Both cell phone and wireless laptop use have grown rapidly over the past year says a new report from the Pew Internet & American Life Project.
Both saw 25% gains, with 47% of adults now using a wi-fi connection or mobile broadband card to get online with their laptops. And 40% are now using the Internet, email or instant messaging on their mobile phones.
Interestingly, it’s the applications not related to making calls that are causing this headway. Taking pictures. Texting. Internet access. Playing games. E-mail. Playing music. Instant messaging. All of these features took considerable leaps forward this year in popularity.
Just goes to show you that as cell phones continue to become our primary choice for communication, we’re going to expect universal and ever-growing Internet speeds and capabilities as well in order to keep us entertained.
