Google is currently testing a feature that would incorporate real-time Twitter feeds into Google News. Individual users would be able to personalize their experience with those they follow on Twitter.
So, let’s say you’re searching for a particular news story in Google News. Well, if those you follow are talking about it, you’ll see their Twitter content on the subject – right alongside Google’s recommended stories.
Google’s incorporation of Twitter makes sense – especially with what Twitter is starting to become. A news source. A place where news and information gets disseminated faster than nearly everywhere else. You’re more likely to learn about a celebrity’s death first on Twitter than on Drudge Report. Specifically because, it’s easier to write a 140-character tweet than a real news story.
And Google is smart to pick up this new source of real-time news.
