You may have heard of the Madden Curse. That the NFL star who appears on the cover of the Madden NFL video game for that year usually has an awful or injury-plagued season. The results are uncanny.
But there’s another jinx you may not be aware of. The Super Bowl quarterback search engine jinx. Google discovered that for the past two years, the team’s quarterback with the highest search volume has lost the game.
In 2009, Kurt Warner had a higher search volume than Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers won the game. In 2010, Peyton Manning had a higher search volume than Drew Brees. The Saints won the game.
So, what happened this year? Well Aaron Rodgers had a higher search volume than Ben Roethlisberger, and broke the short-lived streak.
