Making computer automation better, smarter and faster. That’s every company’s goal. And Google thinks there’s currently one big thing missing from a computer’s artificial intelligence that will change everything. Regret.”
Google is funding groundbreaking research through Tel Aviv University and the Blavatnik School of Computer Science in order to help computers make better decisions.
Humans are an extraordinary loss-averse species. And by helping computer intelligence avoid future regret, Google hopes they can make AI more “human”.
This won’t be real regret of course. But the goal is for computers to make current allocation decisions based on future effectual results, not simply short-term logic. This real-time decision making would be a huge evolution in the progress of computer intelligence. But, we’re not there yet.
