Next to the “No shirt. No shoes. No service. ” sign in restaurants, expect to start seeing revised currency signage saying, “We accept cash, all major credit cards and phone bumping.”
PayPal’s “bump” technology, which allows two different users to bump their phones and exchange PayPal currency, is now featured in version 2 of PayPal’s Android app.
Since most restaurants do not currently accept PayPal as payment, the primary use of this app presumes to allow user to “split the check”. The app automatically calculates each diner’s portion of the bill, and while one user pays with their credit card, the other diners simply “bump” their portion to his or her’s PayPal account.
This free app can now be found in the Android Market.
