Opera Mini has quickly and quietly grown to become an mobile browser juggernaut, growing 10-fold over the past two years. In fact, Opera has announced that its Opera Mini operating system users viewed over one billion pages on July 25th. On that day, Opera Mini servers compressed 11,500 pages per second and delivered that content to smart phones around the world.
Opera mobile operating systems began their popularization as a faster alternative to the mainstream operating systems that just weren’t optimized for mobile browsing. They focused solely on speed. But now offer a better overall user experience. Convenient tabs. Easier browsing. And still offer the lightning speed that helped them make their name.
As bigger players catch up, it will be fascinating to see if Opera can keep their hold of this market share. Currently, Opera Mini is available on more than 3,000 phone models.
