Since 2005, Mozilla Firefox has been a leading browser choice for Web developers. Precisely because of how its open-source format has allowed for such high customization.
5 years later, Firefox has reached its 2-billionth add-on download. From ad blockers and HTML tools, to security features and site translators, Firefox add-ons help make the browsing experience more personal and more powerful.
Yet, Google Chrome’s recent popularity may change things in this space. Google recently released a new category of feature extensions in order to help to make Chrome more accessible. It will be interesting to see if Chrome can ween over developers who have fallen in love with Firefox over the years.
