This probably sounds familiar to you Google Goggles fans. But now you can reverse search images on your desktop through Google. Not entering search text and finding image results, but rather, entering the image to find informational results.
Either using the image URL, or uploading the image itself, Google can scan the image and provide you with any information it can regarding the places and landmarks within it. Be amazed at how Google can name the beaches on your summer vacations.
Now, besides the novelty factor, I’m not exactly sure how useful this Search By Image tool is right now – especially because Google has chosen to err on the side of privacy and not “name names” when it recognizes individuals in your photos.
