Want to “like” more stuff? And by “like”, I mean, publicize your tastes all over Facebook? Well, it’s already happening. Facebook has launched a new feature displaying all of your likes, designed to help others discover new content.
You can now discover Facebook’s most popular pages, mapped out based on your own network’s favorites. You can instantly see which of your “friends” have similar interests to you. And you can instantly see all of your network’s favorite pages that you might “like” as well. These pages are separated by categories such as musicians, celebrities, sports, movies, TV shows and more.
I actually think this is a pretty helpful tool. Except in most cases as of this point, “liking” something offers me no financial benefit as a consumer. This is clearly Facebook trying to become some sort of “search engine“, right? But it’s hard to imagine exactly what that’s going to look like.
