It’s been a long time coming. Or, a hard day’s night, if you prefer a Beatles’esque idiom.
The Beatles were one of the few remaining hold-0uts from joining the iTunes world and letting their music be digitally released. And by far, they were the biggest. But with legal issues between Apple and the Beatles postponing partnerships since 1978, the entire Beatles catalog was made available on Apple’s iTunes digital music store after coming to terms on a financial agreement.
In one week, 2 million songs and 450,000 albums sold, with album, Abbey Road and song, Here Comes the Sun, leading the way.
These are huge numbers, with the Beatles dominating the iTunes charts in their first day of availability, claiming 11 of the top 25 best selling album slots.
