Google Improves Click-To-Call Ads With Phone Extensions

Recently, Google introduced click-to-call phone numbers in local ads on Smartphones. Now, the popular program underwent an expansion as Google made it easier for larger companies to take advantage of.

A post on Inside AdWords blog, it was explained, "[W]e're bringing the same click-to-call benefits to national advertisers through phone extensions. Phone extensions allow you to add a phone number that will be displayed whenever your ad is triggered, regardless of the user's location."

"This enables customers to connect with your business by phone directly from the ad and can be especially useful if you have a call center to handle customer inquiries."

Advertisers can profit from this development, considering cell phones calls will more than likely than click to lead to purchases. Google will be set to make a lot of money since this will encourage corporations with big advertising budgets to give click-to-call ads a shot.

Google Lets Users Find Results Based on Location

Google added a new tool where you can now do a search by location to its list of search options. The option is called "nearby".

"Location has become an important part of the way we search. If you're a foodie looking for restaurant details, food blogs or the closest farmer's market, location can be vital to helping you find the right information," says Google Product Manager Jackie Bavaro.

"One of the really helpful things about this tool is that it works geographically — not just with keywords — so you don't have to worry about adding 'Minneapolis' to your query and missing webpages that only say 'St. Paul" or "Twin Cities,'" Bavaro adds.

Google’s been using users’ locations to deliver search results for a while now, but this is the first time the search engine giant is allowing users to dictate when they want to be used to retrieve results for specific queries. With local searches, Google’s good at bringing nearby results anyways, but now users can add more control, giving them another way to refine their results to match their preferences.

Users can view results by their default location or set a custom location.

Introducing Click to Call Phone Numbers in Google AdWords on Mobile Devices

Google announced today stating users whose mobile devices have full Internet browsers can now see your business phone number and call directly from your ads.

The cost of a click to call your business is the same as the cost of a click to visit your Web site.

Opting Out
If you’re not interested in your ads showing a clickable business phone number on phones, just follow these steps.

Getting Started
Just two things need to be done in order to ensure the ads in your campaign will show your business phone number on mobile devices with full Internet browsers.

Set up location extensions and add your business phone number. Customers will be able to click to call your business location nearest to them.

Check that you've chosen to show your ads on iPhones and other mobile devices with full Internet browsers in your campaign settings.

Viewing Results
You can now review how many calls you receive from your ads at the campaign, ad group or keyword level within AdWords.

About CPC and CPM Bids

In campaigns targeted to the search network, a cost per click (CPC) bid is set for each ad group or keyword in your pay per click management campaign. The CPC bid is the amount you are willing to pay for a click on your ad when it appears on Google or one of our partner sites.

With pay per click marketing campaigns targeted to the content network, you have the option to make it a CPC bid of a cost per thousand impressions (CPM) bid for each ad group, keyword or placement. The CPM is the amount you are willing to pay each 1,000 times your ad appears on one of Google's partner sites. You pay when your ad shows, no matter if a user clicks on the ad or not.

With CPC and CPM pricing, you're in control of your bids. With AdWords, it will help keep your costs down to a bare minimum using AdWords Discounter and Smart Pricing.

Pay Per Click Management Setup

Like the drummer is the backbone of a band, the setup of a pay per click management campaign is the backbone to your internet marketing. A setup takes a while to complete if you take into account that each theme, city or product should have its own ad group or campaign depending on traffic or conversions. Many companies out there do not take the time to do a correct setup, and you will notice it in your results. Remember that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. At Windy City Strategies, we take the time to create the best account that we possibly can. First we analyze your company's website and the types of products or services you sell. We research your competitors and the particular industry trends for that market. Then we define your objectives for your pay per click management account, and give realistic expectations. We are the experts in our field, while you are the experts in yours, and combining that knowledge is crucial. After we have spoken to you about your goals, and have consulted you on the strategy to reach those goals, it is time to do the keyword research.

The keyword research is where your goals, competitor research, products or services, and industry trends all come together to create a list of words that will blanket the community to get the most qualified and relevant traffic to your website. As you can see, this is very important. We will create this list of keywords that will be broken up into ad groups for your review along with the corresponding ad and send it to you the customer for review. At Windy City Strategies, we want to keep you involved with this entire process and stay as transparent as we can with internet consulting.

Once the keywords have been approved, we will set the budget for the campaign, and direct where you want these ads to be shown, whether it is towards a local, national, or global audience. At this point the setup is complete, and we are about 2-3 days into it, depending on the size of the account's services or products being advertised.

Now there are many companies out there that say they do pay per click management, but to what level? Some do not charge any setup, while some charge a set one-time fee, but at Windy City Strategies we customize the setups based on each account's needs, and we are up front about this the whole time.

Is Pay Per Click Marketing Right For You?

Pay per click marketing is an internet advertising model used on search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN, and advertising networks, where you only pay when someone clicks on your ad. The ads are placed in the sponsored links, which is at the top, right above the natural listings, and then they continue on the right side.

Advertisers will pick keywords that are relevant to their target market and advertise on either Google Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing, MSN adCenter, a combination of these, or all. The power of internet marketing is that you only pay when someone clicks on your ad, and you can market your product or service at the exact moment when a potential customer is looking for you. No other marketing has the ability to utilize this. With print advertising, tv, radio, and billboards, you pay a premium just to do it. So how can you go wrong with a pay per click management account?

Well the actual pay per click management of account could be a daunting task to find the right keywords, use the correct keyword match, create enticing ads and target the correct area. If any of these are too broad, you can spend a lot of money without getting results. This is just one part of pay per click advertising, as you can judge the performance of your account by using conversion tracking and analytics, which will support your efforts. Being able to read this critical data is important to get your campaigns fine tuned. Pay per click marketing by name sounds like a fairly easy task, but there are a lot of factors involved that advertisers don't take into account.

Pay Per Click Management and Client Synergy

One of the most difficult things to get clients to understand is that we don't know everything about their sites, and to get proper pay per click management services a client has to understand their role in the advertising. The role of a pay per click manager is to bring qualified and relevant traffic to the website by using keywords that pertain to their business. To get the most efficient traffic, we would bring them to the best page on their site to convert on, and we call this a destination URL. The clients role for this is to make sure that their pay per click manager knows if a URL gets changed due to an update or a creating a brand new website. We can not read a clients mind, so if this is not told to us, a dead link could be advertised for a while, and that cuts into a clients rate on investment.

This can also happen if a client does not tell us if a hosting company is updating a server or changing to a different one. Your pay per click management manager needs to know this, as we do not receive the emails from the hosting company. A simple pause of an account can save a client some money, and not give them a headache when they find out they spent money going to nowhere. Some simple internet marketing consulting by your pay per click manager will get you the synergy you need to work great together for a long time.

Windy City Strategies account managers have been in the Internet marketing industry for over 10 years and will improve your online marketing with our industry leading Internet marketing consulting, search engine optimization and pay per click marketing.
